Trade show promotions give you an opportunity to display and demonstrate your products and services. Believe it or not everyone is capable of developing and displaying good presentation skills. For a lot of people, making a presentation at the annual trade shows can be a frightening and uncomfortable thing to do, however with some simple tips any such fears and anxieties can be replaced with confidence and even make the whole experience very enjoyable.
Let’s now explore some fundamentals.
Practice.
First of all consider the content and approach of your display and presentation and practice on your co-workers, friends or even your family, ask them to evaluate your performance, remember practice makes perfect. It is also a good idea to visit the exhibition room of the presentation before the event takes place, also you should test out any equipment you are going to use and get very familiar with it. Remember familiarization is always a good thing should things go wrong.
Visuals and Sounds
Use graphics, movies, cartoon drawings, charts and visual aids, you can also use sounds and text to demonstrate further. Computer software programs like Power Point are very impressive and can give a professional edge to your presentation, but be sure you have a thorough understanding of the software as well as the hardware you are using otherwise you could be heading for disaster.
The approach you need to take for your presentation.
Be confident and relaxed but above all be yourself. Use your own natural gesticulations or vocal intonation to your benefit. It is very difficult to transform the manner in which you are accustomed. A presentation is far more effective when one actually puts ones energy full force into them. likewise, never attempt to be anyone else or duplicate another presenter’s technique.
Dealing with nerves and anxiety for your presentation
Being a little nervous is not a bad thing; in fact a small amount of nervousness can be a good thing for your presentation. What some people feel when they take the stage is an urge to do one of two things,
1. Make a dash for the nearest exit or
2. Stand full Force and rush the whole presentation.
If you do get such feelings then simply take a couple of deep breathes, breathing in through your nose and slowly out of your mouth, tell yourself you are winner and let all of your nervous energy channel into your performance and out to your listeners.
It is natural to feel insecure at the beginning but go slowly and don’t strive for perfection, walk a little back and fore or hold onto the display stand, whatever, just take it slowly, bear in mind that your audience will need time to digest what you are saying and to turn it around in their heads, so there really is no need for you to rush.
Talk to your audience like they are your friends.
Your work as a host is to arouse and converse with your listeners so that they are eager to get all the info you have. Have a discussion with your audience. They might not in reality talk back, but let them sense that you are testing; consulting and questioning them, they will then remain alert and conscientious.

An important sales presentation skill of top sales people is public speaking. Take a public speaking course, join Toastmasters, do what ever is necessary to feel comfortable and confident speaking to one or a hundred people.
A sales presentation should be perfect every time. So how do you make it perfect? Practice, Practice, Practice. When I started in real estate I carried a cassette recorder with me and when I gave a listing presentation I would ask the couple or person if they would mind if I recorded it. I told them it was for my benefit and would help me become better at what I do.
Then I listened to the recording and learned how I sounded, what I said, how I said it, how persuasive I was and in the end how successful I was. It helped me understand what I did right, what I did wrong and what I would do different the next time.
Develop the right attitude. Become so confident in your product or service and the benefits it provides that your shocked when someone doesn’t want to purchase it. You need to have the attitude that someone would have to crazy not to purchase your product.
Also, go in with the attitude that you don’t need the sale. If it’s the end of the month, it’s a big sale or you need the money, it’s likely your prospect will sense you urgency.
You spent the time finding the lead and making the appointment, don’t waste the sales opportunity by not mastering the sales presentation skills to give a great sales presentation.

If you will be presenting something in front of a live audience, you need to have the necessary skills in order for you to deliver what you want to say effectively. If your last presentation didn’t really come out as planned, you might need to improve your presentation skills in order to get it right the next time.
First of all, the work starts out way before you are in front of your audience. The work starts in the planning of your presentation. The first thing you need to consider is find out who you will be speaking to. You need this information in order to really prepare on how you should deliver your presentation.
In the actual presentation, you only have fifteen to thirty seconds to make a first impression to your audience. In this first fifteen seconds, you would want to grab your audience’s attention. This is why your opening line is also one of the most important factors in making a presentation. One of the best ways in making an opening line is to perk your audiences up with a humorous line.
The next thing is answer your audience’s “why should I care?” and “what’s in it for me?” questions. What this means is that you should give them a reason to listen to your presentation. These two questions, even though unspoken, are what everyone in your audience is asking. If you can answer these questions, you can now move on to your presentation.
So, now that you have their attention and answered the two unspoken questions of your audiences, you now have to think of a way to open the main topic. Start it out by quoting someone, or start it with a joke. With this introduction it will really carry you and your presentation very far.
The most important aspect of your presentation is the audience. If you don’t catch their attention, your presentation may and will be a failure. So, before you start your presentation, you should first know your audience.
With this knowledge, you can write about the different ways to catch their attention. Make them feel at ease while you are making a presentation. Consider adding a little humor to your presentation. Nothing makes a presentation dull and boring faster by being uptight. Loosen up a bit and make your audience comfortable listening to you.
These are some of the things you should remember when making a presentation. You can also tape your presentation and watch yourself. By doing this, you can watch your own presentation and ask yourself if the man speaking in your TV is entertaining you or not. With this, you can improve your skills in presentation.
Always remember that having the right introduction, the right attitude and also the right material are the most important aspects on making a good presentation.
Making a presentation is all about your people skills. If you have good people skills, you will surely make a good first impression to the audience. If you don’t, you can always improve your skills more.
Always keep in mind that boredom is the killer of all presentations. Depending on the news you will present your audiences with, you should always keep their attention on you. Make the audience want to hear your presentation.

How Presentation Skills Training Can Help You Overcome the Fear of Presenting
A number of years ago there was a list taken from the book of lists that stated that Presentation skills and speaking to a large audience was the number 1 fear people had.
In fact 41% of people rated it as their biggest fear.
The strange thing about the list was that only 19% of people said death was their biggest fear. It is amazing to think that standing up and delivering a presentation to a group of people rated a higher fear than death.
The good news is that through presentation skills training you can alleviate that fear. Of course it’s true to say that you may still be anxious and get butterflies in your stomach before the presentation, but through good presentation skills training at least you will be able to make the butterflies fly in the same formation.
So how can presentation skills training help you? Well obviously every good presentation skills training programme will have a section dedicated to anxiety and nerves and offer specific techniques to help you deal with this. But there is more to it than that, the more confidence you have in your presentation style, notes, visual aids, structure of the presentation, knowledge of the audience, knowledge of the topic and knowledge of what you are trying to achieve, the more at ease you will feel.
Most presentation skills training programmes also allow time to deliver the presentations in a safe environment and receive feedback from a qualified instructor, this allows you to work on areas that need to be worked on, and many presentation skills training programmes allow time for the instructor to work through these areas with you. The more confidence you have in the presentation and your own presentation skills and delivery the less fear you will have.
There is no substitute for practice and I am always reminded of the famous golfer (I believe it was Gary Player) who had just chipped in the ball from the edge of the green.
I believe he was interviewed after the game and the commentator said ‘You must have been thrilled with the luck you had on that final shot’ the golfer replied ‘yes I was, but it’s funny the more I practice that shot, the luckier I get with it’
I believe there is a lesson for us all to learn whether you are playing golf or using your presentation skills to address an audience, the more you practice the luckier you will get and the luckier you get the less anxious you will be
