How do the management skills and functions change with the job promotion?
The quickest answer is that each promotion gives you less detail work and more planning, analysis and supervision. Then it reaches steps where you do less supervision and more planning and analysis.

What about money management skills being taught in schools? Do you think it would help them in the future?
What about students being taught from a early age about how to manage there money and how to keep themselves from falling into debt.
It has already been happening in many schools for decades. It doesn’t seem to help much. You can give students all the information you want, but it doesn’t mean that they will connect to it personally.

Does the constant ‘reorganization’ of different areas prove that President Obama has no management skills?
A sure mark of inexperience, recreate programs instead of adjusting what is already in place; a frequent error of inexperienced management.
Someone should tell him
"Don’t throw out the baby with the bath water".
It is like a shell game or 3-card-monty . . .
the moving around hides what he is really doing . .. .
which is taking over every aspect of our lives .. .
it is called Socialism . .. . and he is the poster child.

How can I teach someone good time management skills?
Tony is late for work, late for dates, shows up 10 minutes before the laundry mat closes, etc. He gets stressed, always has an excuse (blames everyone and everything except himself) and gets angry when pushed to hurry up. We made plans to see the 4th of July fireworks last year but when we finally got to the park, the fireworks had just ended. Recently, we dined at a lovely French 4-star restaurant. We were late and Tony took it out on the poor cab driver. At the restaurant he continued his rampage by being rude and obnoxious. It was embarrassing. Needless-to-say the entire evening was ruined. We went out to celebrate our birthdays (and I paid for dinner $$$$.)
My past efforts to "fix" lateness has not worked: I have told him that we will meet him at event(s) but that doesn’t work. He won’t show up. I have tried to call him to remind him to be ready on time and even arranged to meet early but nothing works.
You can’t really teach this to someone. They have to realize there are deadlines in life and he has to want to meet these deadlines. He obviously knows that he can show up late and not have any horrible disciplinary actions taken. He is getting away with it. If this is a relationship, then give him the boot. If this is a job/co-worker he needs to be fired.

Effective Time Management At work:
One skill that is prevalent in all leaders of repute is time management. People who use these techniques routinely are the highest achievers in all walks of life, from business to sport to public service.
Managing time well enables you to be in control of your life; it allows you to act on situations rather than react to situations. When reacting to situations you are ill-prepared and under stress so your action is far from your optimum capacity. Whereas, when you act on situations it is well planned and thus allows you to function at your highest.
At the heart of time management is an important shift in focus: Concentrate on results, not on being busy. This is a one of the most important time management skills. Many people spend their days in a frenzy of activity, but achieve very little because they are not concentrating on the right things.

To teachers: What do you consider to be good classroom management skills?
Any tips for secondary classes? Thank you in advance.
I am sure a lot of good teachers do a lot of different things, but this is what I have seen from teachers I consider good.
1) Respect first, fun second. I would say the first 2 weeks of class are best spent putting the fear of god into students. Give more than homework then. Grade every assignment you give (in class or homework). The kids need to know right away this is not recess this is not the lunchroom or the playground this is a classroom and when you come in you are expected to work.
2) Seems small, but is big. Have (what we call) a "Do Now" ready as soon as the kids walk in. Having one ready sets the tone for the rest of the class, it gives them something do while you get take attendance and get ready for the real lesson. If you do not have some kind of Do Now ready they will come in, keep talking while you set up and then when you are ready to really start you will never get them to quite down.
