how to improve my soft skills?

sometimes i find myself in such a strange situation when i don’t have any reply to my customer’s question. I donot know what to say and at that time customers lose confidence on me and they ask for my supervisor. My supervisor asks me why can’t i deal with the irate customers. I always want to evade those kind of situations. How to talk diplomatic and talk in such a manner that i don’t have to hide from those situations. I need some help to develop my soft skills. Thanks for your suggestions.

When customers ask questions to you, they consider you as an authority in the product that you are selling. What this means, whether you like it or not, you are the authority in answering the question. The key here is that you answer IN THE BEST OF YOUR KNOWLEDGE. Most of times, you can only help as much as you know how. So, whether you understood the question or the customer’s intention fully or not, you just have to blup out answers.

For the irate customers, they are angry and frustrated for certain reason. They are not angry about you. They are only trying to communicate to you that they are the ones that don’t understand what is going on with the product or situations. In other words, they are claiming that they are stupid. So all you have to do is impart your knowledge of the product, once again, AS BEST AS YOU CAN. The key element being transfered back and forth between you and your customers is INFORMATION. You are not responsible as a counsellor or therapist. You MAY feel sympathetic and attempt to sooth them so how, but not many human beings have the ability to dissect the emotional rupture. You are simply an informant, and if the customer is not satisfied with your answer and continue to be frustrated, you should try again in calm manner, and then talk to your manager about it.

You are a good person, it seems. It is something that you should not lose, but concerning your JOB, you should only be concerned about information transfer. I hope this thought helps.

(Desperate) School Management Skills? What are some examples, where can I find more information about them?

I have a careers project where I have to Define the Skill and Demonstrate it. I picked School management skills as a skill. This skill and I am sure of it has nothing to do with operating in the education system or a skill. It probably has more to do with how students complete their school work, assignments, and how they handle school. So are there any examples, definitions, anything on school management skills. Please give me a link anything. I have the project due tomorrow. Also I am from Canada, Ontario to be specific so it would be much appreciated if I get Canadian education refrences.

I would actually disagree with some of your confusingly-worded question — School Management (also called Educational Administration or Academic Administration) is how school are run, like how the teachers are taught and how the principals and superintendents are chosen, trained and managed. It’s more about the ethos and setup of a school than how students complete their assignments – it’s the "why" of the school system (or individual school) in addition to the "how:

How much do you get paid for the one month army ROTC leadership training?

Iv heard 500 and $5000, which one?

If you are talking about LDAC or Warrior Forge, the summer after your junior year, it is about $30/day. 32 days gives you about $900. It was $28 in 2007, but I think it went up a few bucks since then.

Why both coercive and pacesetting leadership styles had a negative impact on business climate and organization

It is to identify the effects of coercive and pacesetting leadership style to the staff. What are the usual response from the staff, are they motivated? or refused to act as directed? If so, what are the impact to the business. Will the sales be better or worst? What will be the impact to the organization as a whole? More turnover or….????

Coercive leadership style has a negative effect because it is based on the concept "Do this, do that", and that is de-motivating for the workforce. It is useful when the company needs a complete turnaround or when employees are under-effective and it is your last resort.

Pace-setting leadership style is only effective when employees are well trained, have a lot of skills, and experience on the job. This style has a negative effect when the pace is too fast and the objectives set by the leader are too difficult, or impossible, to achieve.

The six main leadership styles are: Coercive, Authoritative, Affiliative, Democratic, Pacesetting and Coaching. It is necessary to be flexible enough to know which to choose according to the situation and to establish objectives that are specific, measured, attainable, and time-oriented.

What does a master’s in organizational development and leadership do?

with concentration in Individual and Organizational Development.
Is anyone in that field? How much does one make?
Please, I need an explanation.

It’s basically a liberal arts masters that studies theoretical leadership concepts from different areas. It pulls ideas from social sciences and humanities research. It is useful for those in community organizations or leaders that don’t make technical decisions (non-business leaders for example).

You will typically make less out of school than someone with a focused masters, like an MBA or ME, because you will not obtain a tangible skill set.

Whats the difference between leadership and management?

I am in nursing school and we had a question about what the difference is between leadership and management so I was wondering if anyone has a good explanation?

although there is a difference, by its very nature management would by necessity incorporate aspects of leadership.
and conversely leaders need to be good managers as well, otherwise they could not lead effectively.
so, they are much the same , but leaders are usually chosen by the people they are in company with because they display qualities required.
managers are sometimes appointed to positions based on other technical skills and do not always succeed in this role.
basically, very similar.

good ways to develop interpersonal skills?

being a teenager, its hard to get to know other people, especially in highschool. cliques, and ’social classes’ and that kind of stuff can make it hard to meet new people. so i was wondering what are some good ways to avoid social awkwardness but develop interpersonal skills?

The best way is to actively participate in several diverse activities and never skip an opportunity to meet and talk to someone within a social context.

You can only improve with practice and patience with yourself. And, you must choose to focus much of your attention on the other person, rather than yourself. During a conversation, make sure that you are not always turning every comment or question into a soliloquy about your own feelings and your own life. Seek an empathetic state and you will be rewarded by the law of reciprocity.
